Harker Assessments

How to book your Harker School assessments

Harker School requires the submission of an early childhood assessment (intellectual functioning) as part of the application process.

Neuropsychological Assessment Group can provide the necessary assessment your child needs in order to meet this requirement.

The process is easy, painless and relatively quick.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q:  How much is the evaluation?

A:  The evaluation is $750 which includes a 2-hour testing appointment, summary of test results,  and 30-minute telephone feedback to explain the findings.  We will send the report directly to Harker School.

Q:  How long will the assessment take?

A:  Most children take 60-90 minutes to complete the evaluation.  We offer a 2-hour appointment time, so we can take breaks as needed.

Q:  How do I prepare my child for the assessment?

A:  There is nothing you can do, or should do, to “coach” or prepare your child for the assessment.  The purpose of the examination is to assess each child’s abilities without preparation.  We encourage you not to put any pressure on your child about his or her test performance, prior to the appointment.

Q:  What do I say to my child about the appointment?

A:  You may tell your child that they will be doing some fun and interesting activities during the appointment, and you can say “Just do your best”.  Our providers will work with your child to keep them engaged and provide breaks as needed.

Q:  What if my child is sick on the day of the evaluation?

A:  If your child is sick on the day of the appointment, please call our office to reschedule.  We will do everything possible to find another opening for your child, as soon as our schedule permits.

Q:  What payment methods does NPAG accept?

A:  NPAG accepts the following:  cash, check, debit or credit card

Q:  When can I expect the test results?

A:  Please allow 10 business days.  While results are often available quicker, please allow extra time during busy periods.

Q:  Anything else I need to know prior to the assessment?

A:  Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the office.  The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your child will be when they arrive.

Please be sure your child has received a good night’s rest, and a meal, prior to the appointment.

If your child wears glasses or hearing aids, please bring those items to the appointment.

Q: Where can I wait during testing?

A:  We will meet together with your child at the beginning of the appointment to make sure your child feels comfortable working with the assessor.  During the testing process, you are welcome to stay in our lobby.  We encourage a quiet environment so that your child can do their best.  If you would like to make a telephone call during testing, we request you step outside of the office as there is an additional seating area to make calls.

A Couple Additional Disclosures:

  1.  The assessment we administer is standardized, meaning each provider follows the same instructions when conducting the evaluation.  We are unable to change assessment responses or results upon completion of testing.
  2. We have no information about The Harker School admission criteria.  NPAG is a neutral provider focused on providing a high-quality testing experience and prompt feedback to the school.
